SDL - THE NEED
VIRTUAL LEARNING AND WORK
Virtual learning and work has risen rapidly since the onset of COVID.  With it the need for students and workers to self-direct their learning needs.
Self-Directed Learning: Essential Strategy for a Rapidly Changing World
Are You Ready? Self-directed Learning is the Next Wave for L&D
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed education forever. This is how
GLOBAL RESOURCES
With the use of the internet, resources for learning are no longer limited to a local library or local knowledge.   As a learner one has world-wide resources available.
REDUCE TRAVEL
The increased use and comfort level with online resources has not only changed the way in which people work, but also in how they learn. Conferences are virtual. Learners are given more flexibility to learn on their “own” time and in their “own” space. The decreased need for physical proximity as a requirement to learning is not only a cost savings in terms of travel dollars, but also with regard to learner time.
ACCESSIBILITY
Now is the time to consider accessibility with self-directed learning.   Make sure resources are accessible to all is important for the promotion of SDL.
